We’ve made it. 100 posts. This is it and along with it? A brand new look! With mad love and props to Jess, without whom you’d be reading this on a blank white screen… and that’s only if everything went well. She’s wonderful and I could not ask for a better partner on this site or friend in this life. Thank you.
The Readers Cafe spent 6 months reviewing books here. Books of all kinds from horror to memoirs to romance to political. We’ve run the gambit and we’re proud of the various books and tastes that we put on display here. We’re prouder still of the fact that you all are here. That over the last six months we’ve found readers, held on to them and have our Cafe loyal that come here and read almost every review we post.
We have some new features… like the tag cloud that allows us to add our own quirky thoughts on the post, like whether you’ll need tissues or has a dreamy leading man. Though, be warned, it is at our discretion to NOT say you’ll need tissues if we think it will dissuade you from reading a fantastic book.
As always, we hold true to the standards set up when I first envisioned this site. We have and will continue to write negative reviews. On the whole most of our reviews are not negative, but we don’t shy away from them and we will never pretend to like a book. While we will never blast an author – nor will we ever say a book has no redeeming value whatsoever – because we know that there are all kinds of people out there who like all kinds of books, we will be honest. Every time. Plus, how can we show our penchant for the snark without negative reviews? It’s hard to be sarcastic when writing a glowing review.
We want to hear from you, too! We want to hear what you have to say in comments and if you have something you think we need to review – contact us! Most importantly, if you want to join our merry band of reviewers, please let us know. We welcome reviewers age 16 and over (under 18 needs parental consent) to contact us to see if we can bring you on board. We don’t pay. We read and review because we love books and we want to share our opinions with you! We’re rich in words! We don’t need paid. (Not that it wouldn’t be nice to be paid to sit in our jammies and review books… maybe someday. But not now. Not yet.)
So really, from us to all of our readers… and from me to our reviewers… all of you have made me furiously happy. Thank you for helping me to make this idea of mine a reality. It’s only going to get better from here.
Read on.
I love love LOVE it! Fabulous work, Jess! Here’s to the next 100 posts, oh Brave Band of Reviewers.
